COMPLETION DUE 2018
Studio 1 Architects were appointed for the complete refurbishment of this period house that sits over 4 floors. Additions were added in the form of a rear and side return extension, roof terraces and a mansard roof.
On the front elevation glazed tiles create a low level plinth echoing the property’s heritage, that of being an old green grocers. To the rear Richlite, a black paper based material, was used as the external skin to the new mansard, and pristine white render for the lower levels.
The en-suite master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, an exposed brick chimney disappearing up into a skylight and a small mezzanine dressing area that looks down onto the room.
This project has countless design details: a living green wall, concrete floors, shuttered concrete walls and steps, exposed timber beams and panelling and even the client’s handmade bespoke light fixtures.
